Thank you for stopping by
I appreciate you taking the time to learn a little more about me and the whips. I'm still learning on working on this site so bear with me as this is all part of my journey.
About me
My name is Eric (aka Pup Kit) and I've just recently (October 2023) started making whips. Spent some time watching some amazing people using whips and started looking into one for myself. After seeing some of the prices for leather ones, and they are amazing whips, I wanted something a little more for a beginner. I figured whips could be made from just about anything and paracord seemed a good option. I got some materials, made some really bad whips, but I learned and have gotten better and now want to share these whips for others looking into throwing single tail whips. I may have also been inspired by the Castlevania series.
About the whips
How they are made
All whips are made from 550 nylon paracord. Cores are filled with copper coated steel BBs. They are all finished off with a parafin wax bath for added weight and weather proofing. This wax coating can get scratched and discolored but with a heat gun or indirect torch the wax re-melts and will look good as new, just don't melt the paracord in the progress. All whips come with a Kevlar cracker for that nice pop!
Bull Whips
Bull whips are the common type that people of think of. The have a handle, thong (the long braided bit), and a fall. The total whip length is the length of the thong plus the length of the fall, handle is not counted. For my whips, I typically braid the thong to one foot short of the desired length and add a one foot fall to complete. The handles use a 1/4" steel rod as the core.
Snake Whips
Snake whips are essentially the same as a bull whip but do not have a handle. All measurements are made the same way
Hybrid Whips
These are snake whips the have a 3" pieces of 1/4" steel rod in the end to give a solid bit to hold on to.
